Heat sealed retort pouches are flexible, multi-layered food packages designed to be hermetically sealed (airtight) and then sterilized at high temperatures (\(121^{\circ}\text{C}\) or higher) to create shelf-stable meals. They combine layers of plastics and aluminum foil to withstand high-pressure, retort-chamber sterilization, acting as a lightweight, durable alternative to metal cans or glass jars.

Ready-to-Eat (RTE) Meals: Individual serving packs of curries, stews, rice, pasta, and pre-cooked meat are commonly packed in these pouches for convenient heating and consumption.

Pet Food: Retort pouches are widely used for wet, gourmet pet food, offering a durable, convenient, and easy-to-carry alternative to cans.
